April Challenge: Barn Quilt?

Seriously???!!! ;o)
YUP! That's exactly what my darling WPS (Wing Pit Sistah) Terry asked us Calendar Girls to do for this month challenge hostessed by hers truly.
Here's what she told us -in her own words- about Barn Quilts:
.
"...What is a Barn Quilt? A barn quilt is an 8 foot by 8 foot replica of a quilt block made of plywood and hung on the side of old barns here in Wisconsin.
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/fo...750%5B1%5D-jpg

http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/fo...750%5B1%5D-jpg

There are hundreds throughout the state and I love seeing them up close and personal.  Above are some beautiful examples (the first picture I pass every day):
My challenge to you is to use one of the following quilt blocks to create this months card: ...."

Well, truth be known I absolutly LOVED this challenge!! I made a quilt card a couple
years ago at one of stacking -up card parties I attended, and it was about time to come up with a new one...*THANK YOU Terry for the inspiration!*
I started to create my card only this morning, as Life has a way to interfear when least wanted ....then, after a few  phone calls interruptions I was finally able to resume and complete my card...and here's my take on this month's  challenge.

 I wanted to achieve a quilted creation using a mix of designer papers leftovers from my scrap box , but also wanted to add some dimentions to the patches as well as a solid color beside the original textured pink which -at the centre of the quilt- I replaced with a single square of floral fantasy to make the centre pop.

Here you have it! :o)
I hope you like my interpretation for Terry's challenge...can't wait to see what the rest of the Calendar Girls created !

The twist is to add a small ribbon and three brads in your card...
give it a try yourself, you still have time...c'mon...it's FUN! ♥

Well my friends, I decided to make a square picture-framed card and this is the result.
The  picture above is taken from the outside looking in and ,below, is the
finished inside part of my card.

Here you can see better how the card is . The framed look really
suits this card and I am also liking the result obtained from the centre square panel raised w/dimentionals.
BTW this is my second framed card, the first can be seen here if you wish :

Dueling Darlings Duel : Who's The Man?

Hello friends and peeps...
this is my second post of the day. My first card was made for the Twisted Tuesday Challenge and can be seen here:
http://paola-sama.blogspot.ca/2012/04/garden-without-roses.html
Interesting that both cards made today have similar colors! :o)

This featured card was created for the Dueling Darlings .
I am a tad late but it is still the 15th of the month here ,so I am happy to be able and post it before midnight...lol ;o) The hostesses this month are Terry (for us Dazzlers) and LJ for the Divas. This month we were encouraged by Terry aka my darling WingPitSistah (our own special joke...lol) to use the fabulous kit she sent us Dazzlers in creating a card for the special man in our life. I LOVE black and white cards , therefore this kit was right up my alley -so to speak- .... Terry also told us to feel free to add some color, therefore I decided to use just a wee pop of real red and leave the rest of the card in black and white. I like the result obtained in using a sample strip of all the fabby designer papers she sent us and make it the focused layered background.

I absolutly love this image...I have this set myself and used it for the first time about a year ago for the SOTC group, and gave my Dad this card for Father's Day last year :
http://paola-sama.blogspot.ca/2011_05_01_archive.html

This (second) card I made from this set will also go to my Dad...
He was the one who introduced me to the love of fishing from a very young age...
Taught me how to hook worms and to clean and gut fish after caught...most of all taught me to appreciate nature even more...

My Dad has no way of remembering the first 'On the Fly' card I gave him ....but that's
another story... wishing things could be the way they used to be *sigh*...
I know Dad will enjoy receiving this one for his Birthday at the end of the month...
I just have to seize each and every moment and continue to make everlasting memories for the both of us... ♥ * I love you Dad* ♥

Thank you Terry for a wonderful theme!!
♥ Blesssings to All!! ♥

Terry's Kit included the following items:
Images: “On the Fly” – Stampin Up! (stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black)
Ribbon: black and white grosgrain – Celebrate It (Michaels)
Mini Brads: black and white – Recollections
Metal Rings: either rectangle or d-ring – Paper Studio
Metal Dots: silver – Colorbok
DP - Black and White Paper Pad - Recollections

I added the following : white, grey c/s, real red marker, real red punched out circle,
'bliss' sentiment, dimentionals.

A garden without roses...

Hello my friends...
was quickly working on this card while my granddaughters went to the park with
my hubby...you see, I missed partecipating to the first Twisted Tuesday Challenge
on Melina's new blog last Sunday  (yeah I know...last minute eh!!) but definetly didn't
want to miss the second challenge and here's my black, grey and white vision for it.
Classic non-colors,  flowers made using sizzix and some groovy buttons and pearls over a framed embossed background...and of course NO roses are allowed for this challenge ;o)
The delightful designer paper is from CDWV and SU, as well as the basic black c/s.
Below is a close up of my card....tiny pearls were added on each embossed star as well.

There you have it...I made this post quite simple as my grandaughters are back now and want my attention....I think they have plans to do some crafting together...:o)
Thanks for stopping by...have a great rest of your Sunday ♥

Unidentified Image swap

Hello blogging friends...
here's  the very first reveal of the new Unidentified Image swap started by Barb on SCS
as a spin off from the original 'mystery' image swap originally created by Jeanette
 (Forest Ranger on SCS)
Barb sent all of us partecipants images of this cute duck  'Spring has Sprung'
by Gina K Designs . She also requested we provide a sentiment to use in the front
of our cards...
Well, since the d/p I chose to use has already plenty of written sentiments on it, I then
decided to add mine on the inside....hopefully Barb won't mind too much....*wink*

Wouldn't be nice...even for an instant....to have such carefree life style as this lil
sweet ducky seem to have?? LOL........I can close my eyes and dream to be chillaxing on a cruise....or to be sunkissed on a Mexican beach while listening to the humming of the ocean waves...........ahhhhhhhhhhhhh sooo easyyyy to dream!! *wink* :o)

♥ There you have it folks!...Ducky and I are bidding our
G' Night, sending blessings your way...
Sweet dreams you all!!! ♥

Up ,Up and away...

Hello blogger friends...
I hope you all had a fenomenal and blessed Easter day with family and friends,
celebrating the Resurrection of the One that saved us all...♥

Today I am posting a card that I cased from Lynn , anothe stamper friend from the
Stamp Addicts Blog Group on SCS. She sure has an amazing blog! ♥
You can view Lynn's original beautiful card here:

    http://creativecraftsbylynn.blogspot.ca/2012/03/flying-high.html

I made several of these cards to send to Lorie , who was the March hostess for the Sisterhood Of The Travelling Cards (SOTC) another wonderful group of stampers on SCS...we've been swapping -monthly- together now for about four years I think. ♥
 Here's Lorie theme in her own words:
"When thinking about a theme for March, what immediately comes to my mind is how windy it can be, and of course, kites. One of my favorite things to do as a kid was fly a kite! I have to admit that I really haven't seen too many stamps out there with kites, or kite themes, so how about "Things that fly." It could be anything at all that will fly. Kites, planes, birds, butterflies, etc. Whatever inspires you to pull out a stamp set that you already have and/or maybe one that hasn't seen much ink, and get creative...."

This is the inside of my card. Originally I was going to use this cute stamp only (for the front of my card) but then, last week I stopped by one of my favorite craft store and saw these sizzix dies and just HAD to get them....love the clouds and the kite and oh my the possibilities to be creative are endless! Notice there are TWO sets? Well, I've decided to get one for another stamping friends too..I am sure she can create wonders...
I just hope she likes clouds and kites as well as I do! ♥

*** I also wanted to enter this card in support of Melina's first Twisted Tuesday Challenge ....the 'twist' was to have UNinked clouds in your card ...
....well..it appears I am too late...dang!!
Yikes...I thought the challenge closed at midnight...
Next time I must read thoroughly!! :o(    ***
Please go and check Melina's new *Twisted Tuesday Challenge* blog here:

There you have it my friendly peeps...I hope you, Lynn and Lorie likey :o) I sure had fun creating this card!
♥ Have a wonderful and blessed evening ♥

Rain, rain go away.....

Hello Blog~Land Friends,
it's another rainy, dreary gray day here in BC, perfect for showcasing my latest card...
I created it for my friend Jeanette's swap 'Rain in the Forest' where - in her own words - "...swappers are encourage to create cards that have something to do with
rain : umbrellas, puddles, flowers (that grow thanks to spring rains), raindrops, etc....
AS A LITTLE EXTRA SOMETHING… and since I love to use found/recycled items on cards, anyone who uses a recycled or found item on her cards AND TELLS ME ABOUT IT will get an extra card in her return envelope. The extra card will be made by me and will include a recycled/found item in its creation....."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
* BEFORE going any further, can you guess what I ended up recycling on my card? * :o)
Well, if I have to be honest I must admit that this card took 'life' on its own...
going to a direction totally opposite of what I had planned in my head...
(does that ever occur to YOU, my readers?) In my case it happens more often
than I care to admit....lol
Here for example, I didn't originally plan to make this card into a tent-topper one,
yet the size of this cute image turned out to be just right for that....I think....;o)
Here's a close up of this sweet immie by Whipper Snapper called 'Spring Angel'.
I wanted to give it some texture and decided to use a brush dipped in crystal effect
to apply on the umbrella...I love the uneven textured 'wet' look to it.
If you still didn't figure out what I used as part of my recycled items here's the reveal :
used yellow tape from ATG gun, and red netting from some plump tomatoes...
What do YOU think?  Did these items served their re-purpose well?  *wink*
  Lastly...a group photo of cutie-patooties Spring Angels...
say *cheeseeee* pleezzzzz.... ♥
I hope the receiving peeps in the Forest's swap like them as much as I do....
Thanks for stopping by.....I'd love to hear what you think....
♥ Blessings To All ♥
Asian Elegance *TWO cards*
Amongst the many swaps I'm partecipating in , one of them is the 'Asian Elegance card swap' hosted by Fran (better known as philsmom on SCS).
I always loved Asian themed cards -so much so that I've been hosting the 'Asian Flair' swap annually and received gorgeous cards in the process...so when I saw Fran's swap
I gladly took the opportunity to be on the partecipating end and took two spots, hence you'll be treated to two cards today .....*wink*
The first one was made using one of my favorite Asian stamp set : ' Dream Garden ' from SU...this is only the second time I used this pretty silhuette  of a Geisha  girl chosing to use the wet embossing tecnique with  a hint of  sponging  in between the design and around each white circle nesties.
Below is the inside of the card where I used SU 'Kanji' for the symbol and sentiment.
 1st Card Deet:
Versamark, Burgundy Embossing Powder, So Saffron inkpad, Cranberry Crisp inkpad, circle nesties,lacey nestie,beaded circle nestie,gold organdy ribbon, Provo Craft CB Asian pkg folder, blender pen, black gems,bravo burgundy & basic black card stock,
DCWV d/p 'The Far East Stack' .
                               ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~♥♥♥~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

For my second card,  I used another SU set called ' Asian Artistry'.
Although I had this set for quite sometimes, it is the first chance I finally got to use it.
This is another wet embossed card, perhaps with a lil more elegant tone to it with a mixture of silver, black and grey over a very pretty flowery background that has
the feel of real fabric.
I also added a touch of color to make the black embossed panel pop....

        Below is the inside of the card  showing a pretty inked quote from same set...

 2nd Card Deet:
Versamark, silver embossing powder, Prismacolor colored pencils, silver cord, punched black trim, dot sparklers (bird's eye), basic grey and basic black card stock, light blue pearls, DCWV d/p 'The Far East Stack'  plus a gorgeous silvery fabric like d/p .

There you have it my friends....what do you think?
Personally, I am very happy with both results and , hopefully, Fran is going to
like them as well...
 ♥ Thanks for stopping by! ♥

Calendar Girls- Celebrate YOUR Birthday!

Yeahhh! It's that time of the month for the Calendar Girls to reveal their challenge...
Who are the Calendar Girls? ♥ You can check them out here:
Read what our Miss April had in mind for the month of March....
here are her own word for this month'schallenge :
"...{In another thread, we were talking about what kind of challenges we like best and that is where I got this idea}
I want you to make a birthday card based on your date of birth. I would love you to use two parts of your birthdate and use the corresponding color and sketch challenges available on the forums.
So, my birthday is 3-8-67.....either 3, 8, or 67 would be the
color challenge and either of the two remaining would be the sketch challenge.
My choices could be: 3/8, 3/67, 8/67; or the reverse of these
combos for color/sketch or sketch/color.....Clear as mud, right?? Use two parts of your birthdate and the corresponding challenge to make a birthday card!
April... "

Well my birthday is 30/11/1951. With that in mind, I scooted to the sites and selected challenge CC30 (my birth-date) and SC51 (the year I was born) Yes...I do not mind revealing my age at all......what would be the point?? ehehe  So this is the sketch I cased and the colors for CC30 are Bravo Burgundy and Cream Caramel. Luckily I had some card stock sheets left!            Thank YOU for such a FUN challenge miss April! or should I say miss March - aka April?? ;o)   Are you confused yet? ehhehee lol

* Ruby *

The challenge for the Stamping Addict group this month - the new group I recently joined on Splitcoast Stampers - is to case  one card from Marilyn's  blog.
Wow....where to start??? Take a look at her awesome blog...so well made and full of wonderful paper art creation! Check out how utterly incredible her coloring is
...she's so multitalented! When I grow up I wanna color just like her ! ♥

For my case I chose this beautiful card of hers :
 http://onestampingfool.blogspot.ca/2011/12/ruby.html

I {{{{{{ heart }}}}}} Mo Manning stamps! I am a sucker for any and all of Mo Mannings images, and it so happen that I had a brand new Ruby rubbah just waiting to be inked for the first time...so the choice was easier to make than I thought......
*wink & smile*

I stamped my sentiment on the inside of my card, still leaving plenty of room for
some personal writing .  (this card measures 5.5 x 5.5)
                                          ♥ Gotta love Dr. Seuss! ♥

I kept the image as well as the layout ,in a monochromatic tone , using mainly brown and shades of pink

I hope you all  friendly peeps like my interpretation of one of Marilyn original beauty.
I sure had fun creating this Ruby card!
This lil girl immie reminds me a LOT of my youngest grandaughter who LOVESSS to wear any kind of fun and funky  jewellery ,
including my own , everytime she sees me
♥  I'll save this card for her next visit...

♥ Have a blessed Sunday evening my stamping Friends ♥

Another Mystery Revealed

Hello Blogland's Friends
Today I am posting a card made for the Mystery Image Challenge round 9.
The creator of this fun swap is noneother than Jeanette aka Forest Ranger on SCS.
This swap consists of receiving mystery images from each partecipating hostesses and we (the receivers) must keep such images a secret until revealing day, which is always on the 18th of every other month.
Linda (gimmeahaller) is our hostess for this round, and she sent us fabby images from MFT-WTG Get’s Cozy with Cocoa as well as the perfect circled d/p I used here on my card.
Thanks Linda ♥
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was quite upset at myself for trying to do something different and ending ruining the
coloring part of my immies...didn't realize that the lil stamp flower on the sweater would cause such a problem once colored around w/chalks and hair spray was applied to set it. Well...everything smeared and I was in  a panic! :o(
I even offered to graciously bow out of such fun swap, but my friendly peeps wanted no part of it...I hope they are ok receiving something I am not 100% happy with even with the fixing I tried to do.....mmm, well........I'm trying to convince myself that it adds some 'character'  :/
My Added Details:
Stamps: Fresh Cuts (SU); Baby's Cold Outside (MFT sentiment)
Ink: chocolate chips, summer sun ,certainly celery markers
Others: SU Chalking Pastels
C/S: Certainly Celery, Chocolate Chips, Real Red
Accessories: red pebbles, crystal effect, stickles, hair spray, dimentionals, Circle nesties, Blossom nestie
THANKS FOR VISITING!!!
Hopefully I'll do better next post....LOL
♥ HAVE A GREAT DAY YA ALL ♥
Happy St. Patrick Day!
Hello Friends,
it is dueling time again! ♥ This month the Divas and the Dazzlers shared a 'green battle'
in celebrating Saint Patrick's Day as per the hostess wishes (Barb hosted the Divas and Michelle us Dazzlers) Michelle sent us a great green kit full of awesome d/p and embellishments.
I received mine less then twelve hrs ago and, since sleep failed me ,
I decided to stop tossing and turning and get creative right in the middle of the night. ♥
Michelle also asked us to share if we celebrate and do something special on St. Pat's Day.
Well, we don't really celebrate it, but I do usually wear something green ♥
However,since my lil granddaughters will come and spend time with me today ( they went to a
St. Pat's school dance party last night) I am sure they are going to be excited to share what they did at the party.... Who knows? We may even make green shamrocks sugar cookies together as well as a couple more 'green' cards!! ♥
Michelle's wonderful kit contained the following:
3 - 6x6 pieces of patterned paper....Basic Grey Origins.... sugar pea
Echo Park This and That...dots and plaid
Reminisce...ShamRock
Ribbon and cording....American Crafts
Brads...................American Crafts
Glitter Shamrock....die cut from glitter paper
Pebblesinc......Button candy dots
Irish Blessing poem is computer generated and printed on SU! Whisper White and Cream
 To the above, I added basic black c/s from SU!, front sentiment from SU set 'All Year Cheers III',
Nesties from Label 8 and Beaded Circle, scalloped punch, dimentionals, glue dots.
Front sentiment was stamped w/ Versamark Onix Black and sponged w/Green Galore
and So Saffron. Card dimention is 5.5 x5.5 square.
Please excuse the pictures.Unfortunatly they're not the best, being taken hastily as well as not in natural daylight, in order to post ;o)
Well, my dear peeps, I think it's time I put my laptop to rest, as well as my ol bones too.
I'll leave ya  with a couple of 'Irish' links for you to enjoy :
For each petal on the shamrock
This brings a wish your way-
Good health, good luck, and happiness
For today and every day ...
Happy Saint Patrick's Day Everyone!
