October SOTC

SOTC= Sisterhood of the Traveling Cards
This group has now  been 'together'  for three years and was lovingly started by our friend Kadie
from Seattle...She's the one who 'cemented' this on line friendship and also one of the sweetest people I have met on line! Hopefully, we will soon meet for real since we really don't live THAT far from each others...perhaps 3 to 4 hrs drive, duable, right? :o)
Back on track:we take turn, each month, to make 5+1 cards in order to swap creative ideaswith each other (the +1 is for the hostess)
This month is Twila's turn to play hostess and she chose a nautical theme and, must confess, I almost did not partecipated (it would have been a first for me!) simply because I don't own ANYTHING to do with ships and such. Gladly I was told later, that it could be anything pertaining the sea....fish, shells, etc....so I took a long, deep breath of relief and dusted off one of the lovely sets I bought at least a couple years ago but never inked until now *gulp*....and here's my creative result on this months friendly 'challenge'.
Do you think it turned out ok? Your feed back is important to me, and I'd love some constructive criticism from my friends, stampers and otherwise...*thank you* :o)

* I added a couple of different yet fun elements to this card...
can YOU tell what they are? :o) *

MISTERY swap numero UNO :o)

*Click on any picture to enlarge, can you  see the fire 'sparkle' ?..lol *

My dear stamping friend Jeanette came up with the most wonderful idea on how to have a closed swap using 'mistery' images to send to a group of friendly partecipants, who in turn will host every couple months, if they so choose, in order to allow time to send images back via each swaps returns...
Jeanette hosted the very first mistery swap (numero uno ...lol) and sent to us partecipants
(I believe there are about 25 of us in total), wonderful images of a cute bear roasting marshmallows over an open fire.....(deets will follow).

This is a 3+1 swap and each partecipant will receive 3 cards back...the +1 is for the hostess :o)
I can't wait to see what everyone created with the same image! Meanwhile, this is my lil contribution to the first mistery swap...I rather like how it turned out, and  hopefully the recipients and the hostess like it too :o) It was sooooo much fun creating cards using this cute bear images and sentiments!

Wedding Invites

Young and so very much in love....
I felt quite blessed, months ago, when my friend Debbie asked me -requested by her oldest daughter Stephanie- if I could do Stephanie and Paul's wedding invitations. We set up a date meeting with the bride-2-be and it all took off from there. In fact ,so much so that the young bride chose the pocket invites she liked best amongst the choices I gave her, that very evening. Yeahhhh for a very decisive bride, I say! :o)
Stephanie wanted pockets to be able to include a couple of gift-registries tags and a souvenir- picture of the couple (my suggestion and in black and ivory too, since we had extra space for it) The written invite part was taped on the inside part of the card, as requested by the groom.Stephanie and Paul's color choices were: Black,Purple,Ivory, and a touch of silver ,sponged around the purple panels.I stamped Baroque Motif in front of each pocket card and embossed it with clear embossing powder, thus giving it a very distinctive classy look without being overpowering (I tried it in Ivory and Silver as well first, but the clear look won! )On top of the scroll a few 'diamond gems' were applied and a silver organza ribbon tied the whole ensamble together

The ivory envelope has been scrolled with a large wheel set ,inked with Archival black onix(can't remember the wheel name, and at the moment I have it out on loan too...)Here you have it...what do you think?? The young couple and their families seemed very pleased with it. Oh...and I almost forgot to mention that I have made 150 of these invites....and yes....I also made sure I got some help from the bride and a couple of her family members as well as time was at  a premium too!...*  mmm....come to think of it....I never even uploaded them on SCS...that's a first! :o(

Black and White Special 40th Celebration

* Someone pinch me plllllleeezzzz!...Yesterday, my daughter, my firstborn, turned the BIG 4-0!! *
I can't believe how FAST time does truly fly!! ..yikesss....
One minute she was a lil wailing baby in my arms and next thing I know she is FORTY!! *gulp*
We,as a family, came together to celebrate her special birhday this Sunday afternoon for coffee and chocolate truffle cake at her house...yummsss.... :o)

*Each picture can be enlarged by clikking on it*

Well, Sabrina celebrated the beginning of her new decade together with her best friends last night...
a group of  fun, crazy gals who take turn for each of their important decade to 'kidnap' each others...
(not sure how much my daughter truly remembers of  her celebratory evening, but for sure I know it must have been quite a hoot! Apparently, she came back  home sporting a pirate hat...compliment of  a total stranger, LOL,thank goodness that my handsome son-in-law thought the whole thing quite funny...oh yeahh,..and I already have dibs on that hat ...perfect for putting it to good use for in school Halloween party!*wink*)

And now onto the card I made for her...I stayed purposedly away from fun, comical 'rite-of-passage' kind
of card, as I knew she would probably receive LOTS of them from her girlfriends...so I decided to make
a classic black and white one, with a hint of glitter....
*who doesn't like glitter eh?* :o)

Here it is...I really liked the way it turned out: simply elegant and classy...that's the look I was achieving to gain. Do YOU galZ think she  liked it?? :o)

*card front...too bad it doesn't show the glittery sentiment*

*fancy bow and number brads close up*

*inside of her card, smudges and all...yikessss
and no time to make a second one...*

A Bit of Humour...

Do you like to be humorous and /or funny ways, or appreciate the humorous ways of others?
What would we do without any humour in our lives...mmm!! dunno.... :o)

Well, September SisterHood card's theme, hosted by my friend Karen( from Toronto / Canada)
is all about being humourous and funny  (she sure is all of that!) and our swap cards needed to reflect that.

I had the very good fortune to meet Karen in real life exactly a year ago, when she came to visit me
and spend a few wonderful hours together . She's such a goofball!! lol...a lil fiery ball of fire that Karebear :o) In fact I remember playing some tricks on her too, that particular day , and of course
she took them all in stride like the fun person that she is...Here's a couple of  pictures to prove it...LOL

And now, back to the swap: I don't own too many humorous stamps, and narrowed down my choice to two options : a Penny Black cat stamp that depicts stressfullness in a veryyyy funny goofy way...or this stamp which I used before in another swap ,and chosing it yet again for this 'humour challenge' because, to me, this image basically describes how most of us feels in the morning, at the very beginning of our day...........LOL

For this card I used a total of five different images/stamp companies...yikes! lol

Hope you galZ like it! I sure had fun making these cards! :o)

It's Dueling Darlings Time!:o)

* Who are the Dueling Darlings? - you may ask - *
...and I couldn't sum it up any better than my friend Kelly, whose colorful lines below I cut and pasted...lol ...
so please read on my friends:
The Dueling Darlings are a group of friends from SCS that swap cards and beyond and formed a new group called the Dueling Darlings! Divided into Group A and B, which wasn't a cool name so we are now the Divas and the Dazzlers, have a montly rotating hostess kit that goes out to make cards! The Divas have one card kit to work with, while the Dazzlers have another! It's fun to see what we "duel" up in cardstock, papers and wonderful images!

*******************************************************
......and now let's talk about this month card kit sent to the Dazzlers from our own dazzling Debbie ,affectionatly called lil dj amongst our friendly stampers' group.
The theme for this month was Treasured Friends and all of we partecipants needed to include a mistery item of our choice to our card. Such item must be something recycled or bought second hand... in short, it just cannot be a brand new item! Since I strongly believe in the power of reduce, reuse, recycle, I absolutly loved the theme chosen! :o)
The awesome, generous kit sent by lil dj contained the following :
SU image : My Matryoska
D/P from Kaiser Karft : Mumma Bushka-Msha n Mumma Bushka-Inka
Embellishments : SU red and navy grosgain ribbons, SU navy button,
two red hearts byCreative Impressions ,
one red flower from Prima Marketing
The mistery item I chose to use for this month DDD card is the green netting that was holding a bunch of yummy avocadoes :o)
Other deets I included : SU green  bazzil c/s, MS lattice punch , flower punch , dimentionals, SU markers.
I intended to use the full d/p buska image on it,therefore I also needed a larger card format .
My square card measures 6x6 inches. What do you think? Too big???????
Thanks for visiting my friends,
please make sure to pay a visit to each Darlings blogs or galleries ,and feast on their wonderfully creative talents!!  *have a GREAT day...it's Friday!!~~~wooot!~~~~* :o)
