~ Calendar Girls Quirky Holidays ~

Here we are again for another new round from the Calendar Girls group.
This is our first challenge of 2014 and to start us off in style, our leader
Jeanette , aka Forest Ranger, proposed the following - Here's in her own words :

" If you’ve ever been any of the swap threads that I participate in, you know that I like holidays, normal ones, weird one, funny ones.
EVERY day is worth a celebration. So, for this month’s Calendar Girl challenge, I want you to select a holiday that is CLOSE TO
your own birthday and make a card for that holiday. If you need help finding holidays, check out
 this wonderful site
Now please don’t feel like you HAVE to make a card that is for that holiday… just one that is inspired by that holiday. "

For my birthdate , in November, I found the following three choices:
 *Computer Security Day: 30
*National Meth Awareness Day: 30
*Stay Home Because You're Well Day: 30
I chose  *Stay at Home Because You're well Day* :o)

The possibilities for creating for THIS particular fun holiday are endless!
After seriously considering at least half dozen stamps
(mostly haven't seen ink yet!) I chose this cutey patootey
one, that was gifted to me YEARS ago and finally got inked
for this challenge. I thought it was just perfect for my card
since I enjoy relaxing on my comfy couch when I can (how funny that
my couch in our family room is shaped exactly as this one in the image lol :o)
Of course ,I LOVEEEE chocolate too,the dark kind, although I'm trying  reallyyyyy realllllyyyyy hard to behave lately.....

Here's  Chocolate Riley...taking it veryyyy easy indeed...
If I could stay off work 'just because I'm well' you'd probably
find me on the couch, with my special 'love blankie' on, as well as a treasured book...♥
Thanks for the GREAT challenge Jeanette, I always enjoy reading about
such funky and quirky holidays celebrations! ♥
~ Blessings to all of you, thank you for stopping by! ~

By The Seashore ~

Hello dear peeps in blogland ♥
Wow...posting my second card in as many days!...lol
This one was made recently for the SOTC group.
Originally I took a pass ,being too busy creating invites
for an upcoming wedding...but, once those 100 invites were made
right after Christmas, I thought I could partecipate even though I was clearly the last one....
Well, this is the result, a fairly simple cute card, using one of my favorite old SU set,
from which I finally inked this particular stamp for the first time!

Sentiment and finishing touches on the inside of card

The following is the theme that Kelly, our friendly hostess proposed , in her own words :

~November/December theme hosted by Miamikel4 (Kelly)
Theme: Down By The Seashore

" Hi Sistahs! Since November/December is a very cold winter months for most of you, I thought we'd create some cards to bring some warmth your way! While the rest of the world is buried in snow, let's create some cards with a seashore/ocean theme ~ dip your toes into the ocean, sit on the shore and watch the waves gentle crash to shore, listen to the seagulls flying overhead or watch the sunset over a lovely ocean of blue ... where ever your heart feels happiest at the shore, create it! *Blessings*!
  "

Here you have it folks...hope you approve . :o)
*btw* If you like angels or are looking for latest DDD challenge ,

Sweet Angel Of Mine~

   ♥ Hello Everyone!
Wow...I feel almost disoriented in my own blog...it was soooo long since I was able to log on! :(
Almost three months and , in fact , I was ready to throw in the towel for good!!
I don't think I can ever catch up with all the cards waiting to be uploaded...but at least I can start with the last one I made for the Dueling Darlings group.♥ My first upload of the new year!
I LOVEEE the theme that the Darlings' hostess (Melina ) together with the Divas' hostess (Carol)
came up with this month. I am a true believe that angels surround us and guide us....it makes me feel so at peace when I think of these wonderful and ethereal entities....
Speaking of Angels...I was smiling from ear to ear while creating my card and thinking of our family own personal angel (I am sure we each have more than one, but Alexander is my most beloved one , and always will be...(no offense to all other angels out there in the firmament!) :) ♥

Most of you that know me, are aware that my (our) first grandchild was called to God's Garden at only two days of age...traumatic time for all of us but also grateful for his brief life, and  for the hearts he touched in such short span. I do talk to him often...even when I was making this card he was the object of my silent messages and my smiles....that brings me happiness and interior serenity .
A yearly ritual for my hubby and I when we do our Christmas tree, is to put a very special angel on the tree first, before anything else. We bought it the year that our lil granbaby passed away , in 1991.  This year I explained the importance of our *Alexander's Angel's* to my grandaughters for the first time. He guided my words to them from above. That sweet angel of mine will forever live in my heart♥

Back to my card:
My card measures 5/ 2.5 x 5/ 2.5 the lil envelope is ment to contain lil messages, short inspiring quotes, which I have yet to do. The 3 hearts represent the Holy Trinity, with angel(s) amongst them. This card will be given to a wonderful lil earthly angel (Tay) whom I never met (yet!) ...she's truly a lil hero in my eyes....always smiling ...always positive no matter what or how many surgeries and complications she had recently....she can't speak, yet her eyes are truly the mirrors of her gentle soul...they do sparkle!
She's a true inspiration in spite of her life's huge adversities....My intention is to put together a
'smile' package for Tay and to send it anonimously to her. I know her Mom, a lady of strengh and
courage ,who adopted Tay at a very young age.We need more people like her (and her hubby) in this world to assure less fortunate children a life full of dignity and love.
