Don't Be Sooty

    Hello Everyone!
Taking the chance that Blogger is actually my friend tonight , yeahhhh!!
I can finally post my latest and simple little project for this month challenge.
Our miss October's hostess with the mostest is Barb and this is what she suggested us to do:

"...Here is the October Challenge--For me a true challenge is to try a new technique. So--that is going to be the challenge I propose to all of us.

Go to this link Technique Lovers Challenge Forum and chose a new technique to you that has a 1 or 0 in the challenge number--like TLC410 or TLC360 or any more current number (as I posed this challenge way back in January........................) The technique you pick should be one you have never tried before--and you can go back as far as you want in the forum in the posted techniques to find one to tackle. Please list the number and name of the technique you tried in your blog post. And--to make the challenge a bit harder--you cannot create a card this month! You need to think outside of the box and try a totally new technique along with a project that is anything but a card............... And--for extra credit--make a creation with a Halloween theme!.."

I explored quite a few possibilities from the link that Barb provided, but the 'soot' technique really peaked my curiosity , hence it had my vote...♥

Soot Tecnique Tutorial :
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/soot_stamping/

               I kept this square box so simple that I didn't even add any embellishments to it....
The main front panel is solely about displaying the technique just learned.
I must say that I absolutely love this new technique! It's a tad messy but so cool too!

.....and here below is the unveiling of what I used as a template...lol....yup I actually took
apart one of my asthma puffer's box and traced around it ...et voila'....a new box treat riemerged...

     Thank you Barb, for encouraging us to 'think out of the box'....no pun intended...:o)

Wishing you all a wonderful and safe Halloween....hubby and I decided to treat us for dinner and then surprise our granddaughters...and hopefully we'll get to see our boyz right after school too....although I will actually be in my grade 7 grandson's class part of the afternoon for a pilate project involving Ipads! Exciting! Who would have thought I would be in his class -albeit only from time to time-
until project completion , and on Monday we're all off to a Field Trip to the Mac Store!...:o)

*HAPPY HALLOWE'EN  & HAVE A GREAT DAY!!! *

October Duel : Hallowe'en

TRICK OR TREAT ?

 " Trick or treat , smell my feet,  OR  give me something   sweet to eat..."

 ~~~Hello Friends!
It is time to duel and I am a day late (it's also almost 2:00 am here so I guess that, technically,
 I am actually TWO days late!!) So sorry darling peeps...but Life is constantly interfering...
Both the Dazzlers and the Divas were given the following instructions for the October's theme, that my partner Judy and I hosted this duelling round :
"...Share your view on Halloween...
Do you celebrate it? If so, what's your favorite part ?
 (eating candy is NOT an optional answer...lol)
Please share one (or more) of the following suggestions :
a trick, a treat, a recipe, fav. costume, fav. decoration, fun times..etc...
                              HAPPY HALLOWE'EN TO YOU ALL!!
The following are the items I included in the kit  above to all of the Dazzlers:
 Stamps (all from SU) : "Haunting Halloween" (cat, cauldron + 2sentiments)
"Booglie Eyes" (mummy) & "Best Fiend" (sentiment)
D/P :     Wicked Fun (SU); Halloween Characters & Small Dots (both from Michaels)
 Black w/ silver thread (handmade DP from Costco)
Accessories : 'Boot To You' (CB folder) ; 'Black Bat's (Sizzix Die) ; 2 Halloween ribbons (Michaels) ;
1 XLrg orange brad by Elements/Am. Crafts ; sm. spiders from Recollections ;
pumpkins dimentionals stickers ;  2 sets of Googlie eyes (Dollar store) ;
                                                             'Bootiful' brads from Sprinkles
My favorite part of  Halloween is to see all the little one all dressed up and bundled up in their
ohhhh sooooo cute outfits...Some of the costumes are so darn creative nowdays!!
I do take pictures of all the wee kids that come and knock at the door and of those that are
barely able to walk |(waddle...lol) -with their Parents permission of course- and then send those
pictures to my friend Tiziana, overseas, as she always gets a kick to see how the true |Halloween traditions are carried out in North America....
One year I was quite taken back when I answered the door (my lights were no longer on past 8:30 pm) and found myself staring straight into a lady approx. mid thirty!! She was dressed as a gothic bride and went trick or treating!!!!....I couldn't believe either my eyes nor ears.....lol
Then, last year, there was another woman (approx. same age as the first one) that came with two pillowcases with the intention to fill them up for her kids....who stayed home!!!! mmmmmm.....
THAT was quite the 'trick' if U ask me....but hey...I did give her treats as well.....lol...
I often like to decorate my front door and such, for Halloween, and to receive my lil and big guests
all dressed up in costume as well....this year I would kike to go as a piratess....but IF we decide to go as a group ( at work )I voted to go as the Duck Dynasty fellows!...lol....
THAT would be such a HOOT!! lol
Have a SAFE and FUN Halloween YA ALL!!!! ♥
Calendar Girls : SEPTEMBER 2013
      Hello Friends in Blogland
I am a day late in posting this month's challenge,
even though I actually had my card done on time! Yikesss...
This month fabulous hostess is Terry aka my WPS (Wing Pit Sistha) lol...
She gave us the following challenge to execute, see below post,
in her own words:
SEPTEMBER 2013 CHALLENGE Miss September: Terry
"...September is a month full of changes.
From the leaves on the trees changing colors, to me changing how old I am.
My challenge to you is to use the attached sketch to create a birthday card. Your card can be for a male or a female but it needs to include one type of embossing....can be dry embossed cardstock or a wet embossed image, your choice!
Have fun with it and create something wonderful!.."
I LOVEEEEE this challenge for many reasons...
1) I love FALL and all the wonderful earthy colored involved with this great season,
therefore I decided that my card would have a fall feel to it....
2) Give me some layersss...yes! Terry wanted layers...woootttt sistah! ♥
3) I am a great fan of embossing....especially dry embossing...and this challenge gave me the   possibility to use a few of my beloved embossing folder....
4) Really liked the idea to follow a sketch,something that I very seldom do....
5) Gave me the chance to dust off a very cute and neglected lil stamp that screams 'fall'....
Card Deets:
Stamps: Just For Fun (SU 2000) ; sentiment: It's Your Birthday (SU 2005)
Card Stock: Soft Suede, So Saffron , Really Rust , Wild Wasabi (all from SU)
Designer Paper: Classic Woodland (Martha Stewart)
Ink: Copics, So Saffron, Chocolate Chips, Fall Spectrum
Accessories: Oval Punch, Leaf Nestie, Rectang. nesties, silver gel pen,dimentionals,
C/B folders: Pumpkin Harvest, Leafy Branch, Distressed Stripes
There you have it folks....I hope you and miss September like my interpretation ...
♥ I know I can't help liking the mix of  fall colors!! ♥
Please DO let me know what YOU think... ;o)
♥♥♥ Thanks for a GREAT theme Terry,
I hope your Birthday was as special as YOU are!!! ♥♥♥
 GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!
Globe Trotting : DDD September
bu
  Hello  Friends!
This card was made for the September Duels where the Diva and the Dazzlers (I am on eof the Dazzlers) battle together in paper crafting. This month's hostesses were Kadie (for the Divas) and April (for the Dazzlers) Both came up with a great idea:
 'Globetrotting and Getting Down to Your Roots' theme.
Hostesses' own words: "For September we decided that since there are so many cute stamps out right now with different country themes, that we would travel the globe and celebrate culture!
Please find enclosed in your kit, a stamp that represents a certain country and papers and embellishments to match this travel theme. Feel free to make this month’s challenge your own in any way. Whether it be with a sentiment or embellishment that reflects your own heritage or just by sharing with us in your post what your heritage is and what traditions you have in your family that celebrate those origins."
April added: "To tell the truth friends, I loved the heritage and tradition theme and chose to send generic people that you can customize! I hope you don't mind!
I kept the accessories in black and white theme so they can coordinate with your design!"
 April sent us the following kit:
CTMH:
Family Ties - Adult
Family Ties - Children
The embellishments are from Michael's (black/white ribbons and baubles)
I added the following:
Card Stock: red, green (SU), white (Domtar)
Designer Paper: Eco Park Paper Co.
Accessories: circle punch, corner punch, heart punch, tag from Spellbinder,
red/white candy floss,stickes, dimentionals, red gem (earrings)
Colored by Copics ; Handwritten sentiment
My roots are from bella Italia and I am so very proud of my origins. ♥
Italy is a very colorful Country ,therefore I abandoned the idea of creating a
black/white card and, instead, I opted to showcase the color of the Italian flag
throughout my card. The cute image sent by April (there were several choices)
reminds me of my shopping days in Milano, the heart of the MODA, the city of the
Italian fashion well-know all over the world thanks to great Italian stylists such as :
Armani,Versace, Gucci, Cavalli, Ferragamo, Prada, Dolce & Gabbana etc...
The world’s oldest shopping mall is also located in Milano, and is located in the Piazza
Duomo . If you ever end up visiting my beautiful Italy, don't miss this bustling city!
(No,  I am NOT from Milano, my origins started in BOLOGNA, the beautiful city famous
for the TRUE lasagna and tortellini, and is also home to the oldest University in the world,
founded in 1088! I miss my bella Bologna, the rest of my family, some of my childhood
friends with whom I am still in contact, I miss the markets, the bubbly people, the liveliness
all around me, the late nights with my favorite cousins and our laughter....
I miss everything and everyone...
and yes...I DO also miss the wonderful, genuine FOOD , including GELATO
....mmmm......soooooo amazingly good!!
            ♥ My bella Italy....now...That's...AMORE!!!♥
Thanks April and Kadie for the Globetrotting theme! Love it!!
let it SNOW!!!!! ♥
*Click to enlarge any picture if you wish...*
     Hello Friendly Bloggers and Peeps!
Today is Calendar Girls reveal day and I am very excited to see what the gals created
this month , based on the theme I challenged them with....
It's all about *SNOW*!!! You see I don't like the snow.....nope, not at all....lol ....
                        *I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE the SNOW!!* :o)
I thought that we needed to cool down a bit from such high
temperatures that especially this month is known for....and here's what I proposed to
the rest of the very talented Calendar Girls:
For the usually HOT and HUMID month of AUGUST, I would rather do something to get cooled off ...but what?
mmmm..I got it! We could make some SNOWballs....or even SNOWangels in the middle of summer, but how? ♥
Here's what I suggest :
Your challenge for this month is to create something with anything that begins with the word SNOW.
However, here's the catch: Your card should NOT reflect Christmas at all...
...but rather just images AND sentiment ( s ) that start with *SNOW*.
Here's a list of compound words for you to chose from and get started with...(feel free to add your own)
Once you blog your card, please also make sure to add what was your word choice
that your card reflects, and also WHY you selected THAT particular word...
Thank You and happy stamping .....Have FUN 'chilling out' on a hot summer day....♥
Paola
aka Miss August ♥
SNOW words:
Snowman ; Snowberries ; Snowballs ; SnowWhite ; Snowplow ; Snowsuit ; Snowflakes ; Snowqueen ;
Snowmobile ; Snowshoes ; Snowcone ; Snowangels ; Snowfort ; Snowbird ; Snowgoose ; Snowfall.
Above  : a visual of the inside of my card....
Below : close up of the fun image...(too bad the glitter doesn't show too well here...)
 I chose this particular WS stamp because I NEEDED to ink it....FINALLY! lol
It was purchase months ago, amongst others precious to me WS, on an line FB craft link
based in my area. Love the fact that not only had a mega killer deal, but in the process you
get to meet other wonderful crafty ladies.....A couple of them I became quite friends with
which it really works well for all of us and our (crafty) interests...lol ♥
My word of choice is SNOWSHOVEL...which,as you notice in my card, I had it  cut out  and
applied with dimentionals to obtain somewhat a 3D effect....
Over all my card reflects the following SNOW words: SNOWMAN, SNOW, SNOWFLAKES,
and SNOWCAPPED SIGN....
Thank YOU all for visiting , hopefully you like my August`s challenge interpretation!
***BLESSINGS***
*DDD* x three!! ♥♥♥
♥ AUGUST DUEL : Fall Kick Off
*BE AWARE: LONGER POST TODAY....covering 3 challenges :o).....hang in there....lol♥
~~~ ♥Hello fellow blogger,
this is an exciting day ...yup...it is DUELING DAY!! In my case I am celebrating the fact that, finally, I am all caught up with all of the 3 summer kits received.....(insert red face here...)
My sincere apologies to Melina and Debbie for such tardiness in creating with their wonderful kits,
an apology as well to my Dazzlers and Divas' s pals for their endearing patience. I appreciate you all!

I am starting off with August's kit. It is a wow!! Terry , my WPS (Wing Pit Sistah) send us Dazzlers an awesome ,darling kit to kick off her and LJ theme .(LJ is this month's hostess for the Divas)

In Terry's own words :

"Fall Kick-off"

LJ suggested to put together kits with a fall kick-off theme.....not specifically football, but anything that would start the fall season. I chose to put together a school themed kit for you all to work with, I hope you all enjoy it!

In your blog post, please share with us a favorite memory of the fall season!

My fall season's memories are quite a few....in a nut shell :from thoroughly enjoying walking amidst thousands of pretty colorful, crispy leaves, to biking down the dike with hubby enjoying an early sunset by the river.
The best memories, though, almost always include my grandchildren, their first day of school , followed shortly by our Thanksgiving feast and Hallowee'en....through their eyes I taste, feel,touch, see,and enjoy each wonders that Autumn (and each of the other seasons too, of course) have to offer....including game nights at our place after enjoying wonderful home made soups and making such simple things like hot chocolate with mini marshmallows which always reward me with so many happy faces grinning from ear to ear...
Autumn, is-without a doubt- my most favorite season of the year. ♥

 from Terry :

Dazzlers' kits included:
  • Image: Stampabilities: House Mouse "Smarty Pants"
  • stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Paper: Recollections: "Back to School" paper pack
  • Bakers Twine: Target dollar spot
  • Candi Dots: Craftworks
  • Ribbon: Michaels

  • THANK YOU TERRY for such FUN, adorably sweet kit!! ♥

*Tecnique used:paper distressing & fussy cutting (mouse, apple, school bus)
*image is colored w/ Copic and SU pastels
Nestabilities :Labels twenty

             ♥ JULY DUEL : COOL CREATIONS

Last month,  Debbie (for the Dazzlers) and Barb (for the Divas) came up with a terrific 'Cool Creations' theme  to challenge us faithful partecipants ♥...so perfect for the hot summer days
we've been having! Love the fun filled kit Debbie sent us Dazzlers. (Thank YOU Deb!)

 Her kit contained the following items:

DP & Ribbon: Ice Cream Parlor by Stampin' Up!
Image: Good Ol' Summertime by Stampin' Up!
Paper Straw: A Muse
Buttons & Flowers: SU! and Michael's or Joanns
Craftworkcards Candi – pink dots
*Image was colored using Copics*

                * click on any picture if you wish to enlarge*

We were also asked to share our summer favorite treat.
mmmm.....there is sooooo much I like! lol hard to pick JUST ONE favorite....but I would have to say definetly lemonade ( some of the best ones I had was during my recent cruise...) ....definetly like ice cream (French vanilla or chocolate) with a shot of espresso right on it!! yummmmyyyy! Another summer favorite is just plain fresh blueberries with greek  yogourt on top....
sooo good!!♥

♥ JUNE DUEL :
FLIP FLOPS AND SUNSHINE

Melina was our hostess for June (for us Dazzlers) and her team mate was Carol (for the Divas)
Their chosen theme is sooo fun and loved it right away as I love using flip flops during the summer months (who doesn't? -can't count how many pairs of flip flop  own.....ohh I am also one of those weird people who loves to wear crocs! lol....sooo comfyyyyy....;o)

Melina  cool kit was very funky...original and quirky...loved it! It made me think out of the box...♥
I used one of the flip flop images on the inside of my card and the sentiment on the outside...
plus I decided that the sun needed a lil perking up, so I dusted off the orange embossing powder and
gently sprinkled around the rays and around the edge of the sun...I completed it by adding a smiling face to it and added dimentionals too. I like its' simplicity and the summer fun it exudes....

♥ THANK YOU MELINA!

Well, folks....thanks for hanging in there while reading about all THREE challenges in ONE post....so much appreciated !

Please feel free to leave a comment or two after your visit....
I love hearing from you!

♥ GOD BLESS YA ALL! ♥

Unidentified Images -round 9-

                                                     *Click on the image if wishing to enlarge*

Hello Friends and Bloggers,
This is the card I created for the 9th round of the Unidentified Images swap on SCS,
hosted by April. (SCS : Aprilo)  She also provided the image (in this case it's the sentiment)
to all of us partecipants.....I love this sentiment (have this 'Unity' stamp as well)
It is so versatile and can be used for such diverse uplifting occasions too.

The card is fairly simple to make but I always love the end results w/ this technique
I used 'Victorian' CB folder to wet emboss the background by
smoothing the ink of choice over the inside of the folder thus obtaining this effect
(sorry I can't remember the name of this technique, please lmk if you do...txs! ♥ )
I also glittered the word 'believe' in the sentiment wich rests over a scalloped rectangular nestie and supported by dimentionals. Other accessories:  a wide (7/8") organdy ivory ribbon, a group of shimmering ivory flowers and pearls.

Hope both the hostess and the recipients will enjoy these cuties ♥

Thanks for stopping by, your visits and comments
 are always appreciated! God Bless!

B & W - Wedding Cards -

  Hello Blogger Friends,
it sure's been a while since I blogged last time....I am still wayyyy behind in posting some of my creative cards....speaking of which this is the very last one ,created the day after I returned from a wonderful two weeks away, cruising North and Southbound to Alaska......
We enjoyed truly magnificent natural sceneries, glaciers, wild life both in our way out as well
as coming back....Alaska beauty is absolutely unforgettable.....♥

The cards you see here were made for a  Canadian based Wedding swap. Unfortunatley I sent them
off the day they were due , as I  still wanted to support the hostess ,therefore I let her know I'd be happy for her  to keep all of my cards regardless.  :o)

I love black and white -with a touch of grey- and glitter too of course!
The partially glittered designer paper adds some dimension to the card
and a touch of class as well (imho!) I was going to add a white  ribbon and
a matching bow to it as well, but- in this case- less is more, therefore I switched
it w/ a silky flower in the corner instead, topped by a black 'jewel'...;o)

Above is the added inside sentiments and below's  is a 'group photo' of all five cards....
I hope  you like them! I wanted to achieve black/white themed cards with 'simple yet classy'
as the main focus....♥   I am definetly happy with the end results.

                                              ♥  THANKS FOR STOPPING BY!  ♥
   YOUR VISIT AND COMMENTS ARE MUCH APPRECIATED!

Card Deets:

Calendar Girls x TWO

    Hello everyone!
 have TWO cards for the Calendar Girls today...
My apologies for being a month late with my May card...but, alas, here it is! :o)
Last May hostess was April and she encoraged us to create cards with something we' re hoping to
achieve over the summer.  Here's the request in her own words:

" My theme is easy - I would like you each to make a card representing one thing you hope to accomplish over the summer. It could be a garden, a vacation, a weight loss, whatever, BUT you do have to tell us what you are hoping to accomplish!"

Well, there are sooooooooooooooooo many things I truly NEED to accomplish...in primis reorganizing and decluttering my whole house!!

(I can't believe how much I let it go in the last few months!! *insert red face here*)
However I do not own any stamps or images showing 'cluttering' LOL...therefore the next best thing I REALLYYYY hoped it would happen over the summer, was to go on a cruise to Alaska with my hubby, again. Wellllll....it is actually going to happen!!!!!! I booked a cruise less than a month ago and YES we are leaving next month and this time for TWO whole weeks cruising all the way up to Anchorage! ♥
It is the holiday both hubby and I need for sure! This is 'our own true Christmas' in July!
Again, I do not own a stamp depicting a ship...but I thought that this one -from Stamping Up-would give the general idea with the open sea, seagulls and all...and, of course ,like the sentiment shows, we will have good times...heck GREAT time!  :o)
Thank you APRIL for a great challenge!!! ♥

My second card was created for the current calendar month
hosted by Debbie

She sent us all a stamp with which to create our card and the above sentiment stamp is the one I got in the mail from her all the way from Alaska...Thanks Deb! ♥
The requirements for the June theme,suggested by Debbie are:

1. At least two layers.

2. You must use the $1 stamp you receive, on the card. However since the $1 stamps are small you can use background stamps or other stamps to create a background, and sentiment stamps of your own on your card as well. But I would like the $1 stamp to be the focal point.

3. If you have any buttons, ribbons, or other embellishments that you bought for $1 or less, embellishments that were gifted to you, or recycled items, please use those products to embellish the card.

Well, this one was a harder challenge then last CG card, for me....lol...
I had a visual of the card I wanted to create, using a Bella stamp and tranforming it into
a  'carefree and rocking it' kind of gal... I think I am ok with the end result...

You can clearly see the Bella stamp I used (in part only) as well as how I came up with the guitar idea...
The designer paper for this card is aptly called 'Rockstar'  mat stack by DCWV. The whole stack
of 4.5 x 6.5 was bought at a stamping garage sale couple summers ago for less than a dollar.
The 'diamonds' were a gift and they came in pkg like ready to cut up 'material' and the b&w candy floss was a sale item at Michael a while back, while the button is a lonley leftover from a depleted pkg.
Ohhh and I doubt it very much that I would fussy cut a Bella again, anytime soon! ppffffffftttttt!....lol

THANKS for a great June challenge DEBBIE!!

THANKS FOR STOPPING BY!!! 3:10 AM HERE and this chick is off to la-la land!
♥ GOD  BLESS EVERYONE!! ♥
