March - Calendar Girl

*** ♥ Double posts today! If  you are looking for the Dueling Card please scroll down...♥ ***

Finally finally finally....
my MARCH card for the Calendar Girls challenge IS done!
TAMI...THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR PATIENCE!!! xox
I did two cards today (one for the Dueling Darlings and this one for the CG)
Truth is that my mind was confused and I thought I owed TWO -DDD cards' challenges...lol
noooooo...I owed TWO CG cards' challenges....at least I made this one so now I am still ONE behind for April....*sigh*

March Challenge from Tami
Did you know that March used to be the first month of the year on the Roman calendar? It was changed to the third month by Julius Caesar. The calendar we use today is refined from the Julius to the Gregorian. Sadly, we only gained like the wee bit of a percentage of more time to craft with the change! In theme of the original first month, let's use one button on your card.
Let's make a card based on a sketch. I saw this sketch and wanted to use it at some point. It's time! Please note, the sketch challenge is still open, so be sure to join!
Speaking of Romans, purple is the color of the day. Please use the color purple on your card somewhere. Purple was worn by Roman Emperors and magistrates. It is also the color worn by those cute little ladies you see out lunching together, wearing purple and red and a bunch of hats!

For my card I used the following:
Ink : Versafine Onix Black , Orchid Opulence (yup, dusted IT off too! lol)
                                                          purple/lavander markers (SU)
Stamps :  Artifacts (SU)   and Warm Words -sentiment- (SU)
Designer Paper : Me and MY BiG Ideas plus C/S
Accessories : Clockworks Embossing Folder (Cuttlebug) , lavander button ,
punch from Martha Stewart , paper flowers from my stash.
Tecnique : sponging, dry embossing and embossed inking

Below : inside of my card

Again, sorry for the delays....my life has been a delay after another lately in regards
to my fun-time with crafting , and I don't forsee any changes too soon either....*sigh*

♥ C'est la vie!! Thanks for visiting!!! ♥

Dueling Day : Music

Copics , glitter (lots!) and dimentionals.

My choice song for today (I tend to have several choices otherwise) is :
'You're Still The One' by Shania Twain , recorded in 1997

This is one of many songs that has a very special meaning to me because its words truly depict
what hubby and I had to go through to 'fight' for our love as certain 'friends' of the family were, then , actually belittling us and telling me that what we thought it was *love* was most likely an 'infatuation' that wouldn't last...(perhaps because I was only 15 yo ?....)
Their actual words to me were "yours is only puppy love"
(yup almost like Paul Anka's old song....*sigh*)
Well , after 3 years of courtship plus 44.5 years of marriage later , we are still together
and he is definetly still my one and , of course , I will dedicate this song to my man!! ♥

Can't wait to see what ya all 'cooked up' for this duel!!!

Nite , nite....it's almost 3:00 am here , and this night owl is calling it quit! zzzzz......zzzz

You're Still The One
When I first saw you, I saw love
And the first time you touched me, I felt love
And after all this time, you're still the one I love
Looks like we've made it
Look how far we've come my baby
We mighta took the long way
We knew we'd get there someday
They said, "I bet they'll never make it"
But just look at us holding on
We're still together still going strong
(You're still the one)
You're still the one I run to
The one that I belong to
You're still the one I want for life
(You're still the one)
You're still the one that I love
The only one I dream of
You're still the one I kiss good night
Ain't nothin' better
We beat the odds together
I'm glad we didn't listen
Look at what we would be missin'
They said, "I bet they'll never make it"
But just look at us holding on
We're still together still going strong
(You're still the one)
You're still the one I run to
The one that I belong to
You're still the one I want for life
(You're still the one)
You're still the one that I love
The only one I dream of
You're still the one I kiss good night
You're still the one
(You're still the one)
You're still the one I run to
The one that I belong to
You're still the one I want for life
(You're still the one)
You're still the one that I love
The only one I dream of
You're still the one I kiss good night
I'm so glad we've made it
Look how far we've come my baby

In Memory....

A year ago, on May 1, 2013 my dear sister-in-law`s Mom passed away,
leaving everyone absolutly stunned! Her untimely death was nothing but devastating by all who
knew her , especially from my DSIL , who is mourning her Mother daily, still....
Worse time of the year is the recent Mother`s Day, of course. This is my way to honor her memory
and to showcase the sympathy card I made, a year ago, for my sister in law.

Emilia was an avid gardener, amongst many things (hence the flowered card) ; she had many uber talents too but , in primis ,was her love of singing partecipating in the Vancouver Italian Choir.
I remembered that when I visited her last time at the hospital , she was regretting not being able to partecipate and sings in `her`choir anymore...yet now she has the privilege to sings with God`s angels...I feel she must be happy about that! ♥

This is the very last picture of Emilia...I took it on Easter Day (April 1, 2013) as she enjoyed the beautiful sunny day, eating al fresco at her daughter`s and my brother`s back yard , engulfed by laughter, happiness and much love...
Nothing could have prepared any of us of what was brewing ahead...
Exactly one month later, on May 1, 2013 she took her last breath, after been admitted to the hospital two weeks after Easter.... Until we meet again Emilia!

Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you wake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.
Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
(Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die!)
