Calendar Girls : SEPTEMBER 2013

      Hello Friends in Blogland
I am a day late in posting this month's challenge,
even though I actually had my card done on time! Yikesss...
This month fabulous hostess is Terry aka my WPS (Wing Pit Sistha) lol...
She gave us the following challenge to execute, see below post,
in her own words:

SEPTEMBER 2013 CHALLENGE Miss September: Terry

"...September is a month full of changes.
From the leaves on the trees changing colors, to me changing how old I am.
My challenge to you is to use the attached sketch to create a birthday card. Your card can be for a male or a female but it needs to include one type of embossing....can be dry embossed cardstock or a wet embossed image, your choice!

Have fun with it and create something wonderful!.."

I LOVEEEEE this challenge for many reasons...
1) I love FALL and all the wonderful earthy colored involved with this great season,
therefore I decided that my card would have a fall feel to it....
2) Give me some layersss...yes! Terry wanted layers...woootttt sistah! ♥
3) I am a great fan of embossing....especially dry embossing...and this challenge gave me the   possibility to use a few of my beloved embossing folder....
4) Really liked the idea to follow a sketch, something that I very seldom do....
5) Gave me the chance to dust off a very cute and neglected lil stamp that screams 'fall'....

Card Deets:
Stamps: Just For Fun (SU 2000) ; sentiment: It's Your Birthday (SU 2005)
Card Stock: Soft Suede, So Saffron , Really Rust , Wild Wasabi (all from SU)

Globe Trotting : DDD September

bu

  Hello  Friends!
This card was made for the September Duels where the Diva and the Dazzlers (I am on eof the Dazzlers) battle together in paper crafting. This month's hostesses were Kadie (for the Divas) and April (for the Dazzlers) Both came up with a great idea:
'Globetrotting and Getting Down to Your Roots' theme.

Hostesses' own words: "For September we decided that since there are so many cute stamps out right now with different country themes, that we would travel the globe and celebrate culture!
Please find enclosed in your kit, a stamp that represents a certain country and papers and embellishments to match this travel theme. Feel free to make this month’s challenge your own in any way. Whether it be with a sentiment or embellishment that reflects your own heritage or just by sharing with us in your post what your heritage is and what traditions you have in your family that celebrate those origins."

April added: "To tell the truth friends, I loved the heritage and tradition theme and chose to send generic people that you can customize! I hope you don't mind!
I kept the accessories in black and white theme so they can coordinate with your design!"

April sent us the following kit:
CTMH:
Family Ties - Adult
Family Ties - Children
The embellishments are from Michael's (black/white ribbons and baubles)

I added the following:
Card Stock: red, green (SU), white (Domtar)
Designer Paper: Eco Park Paper Co.
Accessories: circle punch, corner punch, heart punch, tag from Spellbinder,
red/white candy floss, stickes, dimentionals, red gem (earrings)
Colored by Copics ; Handwritten sentiment

My roots are from bella Italia and I am so very proud of my origins. ♥
Italy is a very colorful Country ,therefore I abandoned the idea of creating a
black/white card and, instead, I opted to showcase the color of the Italian flag
throughout my card. The cute image sent by April (there were several choices)
reminds me of my shopping days in Milano, the heart of the MODA, the city of the
Italian fashion well-know all over the world thanks to great Italian stylists such as :
Armani,Versace, Gucci, Cavalli, Ferragamo, Prada, Dolce & Gabbana etc...
The world’s oldest shopping mall is also located in Milano, and is located in the Piazza
Duomo . If you ever end up visiting my beautiful Italy, don't miss this bustling city!
(No,  I am NOT from Milano, my origins started in BOLOGNA, the beautiful city famous
for the TRUE lasagna and tortellini, and is also home to the oldest University in the world,
founded in 1088! I miss my bella Bologna, the rest of my family, some of my childhood
friends with whom I am still in contact, I miss the markets, the bubbly people, the liveliness
all around me, the late nights with my favorite cousins and our laughter....
I miss everything and everyone...
and yes...I DO also miss the wonderful, genuine FOOD , including GELATO
....mmmm......soooooo amazingly good!!

            ♥ My bella Italy....now...That's...AMORE!!!♥

Thanks April and Kadie for the Globetrotting theme! Love it!!
