March ~ SOTC

~This Month's Theme is hosted by sistah April~ (SCS: Aprilo)
She has challenged us to make cards with boys' in mind . Specifically the theme for this month is catered toward teens.
"All Purpose Cards for TEEN Boys" is the title.
Cards for all occasions such as birthdays, congratulations, job well done, sports related....whatever we think that boys may like....
(and noooo...April  did not mention that teen boys,at their age, most likely dream about  pretty, geeeegling girls !! LOL)

Well, I thought to make cards with music in mind...
rock and roll specifically...(which teen doesn't like music??!!)
therefore I took the opportunity to ink one of my favorite  silhuette stamp:
*Extreme Guitar* from SU! I also used Inkadinkado *Friendship* sentiment (Be Yourself),
and See D's *50442 Stars* (sentiments 'Shine' and 'You are a rock star' comes from same set)
I used Archival's Onix Black and Archival's Sienna to stamp directly on designer paper from DCWV "Rockstar Mat Stack Collection" (The guitars page, below w/Elvis book, comes from same fabby collection)

For the background I used real music sheet that I ripped off  from an old Elvis's easy learner music book that used to belong to my daughter when she was very young...(see how much I LOVE recycling?? lol)I thought it served very well for this card. Then I  cut out each lil guitar (what a pain!! lol) and  placed them -using dimentionals- on each of he guitarist's 'hands' for that lil extra touch.I really like how it gives that extra finished touch to the whole ensamble. Now I know I will be hoarding those lil guitars for future creations *wink*  I  also accessorized the card with ribbon bought at a craft store by the meter , music clips and star brads, both sponged with brown staz on. All is mounted on black card stock from SU!
I really like how they all turned out and hopefully YOU, and the recipients , like it as much too.
These teens' cards were sure fun to make :o)

Blessings to all....I love it when U visit! :o)

<----------------Ohh and this last one here on the left, was made with the leftovers....just thought to add it to the mix as well...*wink* CIAO for now....have a great day!! :o)~~Paola~~

March *D*D*D* : Bring Out The Kid in YOU!

*click on any pictures if you wish to enlarge*
                      ~~* Hello Friends and Bloggers....
It's been a while since I posted last , but that's what happens when my good hubby decided to
wisk me away for some much needed 'change of scenery' so to speak...
Apparently my health doesn not agree with the 'blue moods' the winter months seems to insist me to have...bleahhh
Anyways...let's get to the point  of this new post ...Yes I am late posting this, but you now know the reason why :o)
Each month, and on the 15th day to be exact, we Dueling Dazzlers 'battle' with the Dueling Divas
to compare ideas, learn new tecniques, and creating DARLING cards together .
If you're new to my blog and like to read more details about what it's all about, please check the link to the post *see below*...you won't be disappointed :o)

http://paola-sama.blogspot.com/2010/10/its-duelling-darlings-timeo.html
The Darlings' hostess for the month of March was Jeanette better known on SCS world as 'Forest Ranger'
Jeanette and Kelly (the Diva's hostess) came up with a new wonderful theme for all of us to 'duel' with :
*BRING OUT THE KID IN YOU* ...isn't it an awesome theme/idea? I just love it!! :o)

Jeanette sent all of us Dazzlers an amazing kit full of treasures: darling  images and lots of embellies, including real Scrabble tiles too, plus great designer papers...thank YOU Jeanette!
This is  what I came up with: two friends gently swinging together under the shady branches of a vigilant big ol' oak tree....do you like it???
I am rather happy with my attempt at a 3-Dcard...
I remember how much I loved to swing from trees as a kid ,visiting my favorite aunt's peach orchard every summer....I used to climb lots of trees too! In fact I was quite  atomboy in my earlier years...LOL
No matter the age, I still  do use the swings at the parks  w/ my Gkids sometimes...what can I say??
I am still a kid at heart :o)

We also were given a fun challenge:
we needed to include something we'd find with toys
(ie: crayon wrappers, tissue papers, felts, etc...
I must admit this last part stumped me a bit and then...eureka! an idea struck! LOL
Can U tell what I used for the challenge?? here's a hint: you will not find it on the outside of the card ...check the picture below on the left first...
can you see something shimmery on the inside of my card?? *wink* Did you guess what it is?
Well, if you didn't guess yet, here's  another revealing small photo for ya, below  right :o)

Introducing : International Inkers

*click on any picture if you wish to enlarge*

Hello everyone and welcome to Crafters without borders
~ otherwise know as the International Inkers
A few of us thought it would be fun to share kits internationally and a group was born.
(Thanks Michelle for such great idea! *muwahhh*)
Representing Germany we have the talented Tanja and Imke, the United States is provided props by our own spunky Catherine and wonderful Michelle, and Canada is ably supported by crafty Karen and myself (Paola) - woohooo...Today is our debut! (Imke will join us next round)

Each month one of us will send identical kits across the borders to our fellow Inkers and once they are received at all the destinations, a posting date will be chosen and our creations will be up for all to see.
I had so much fun creating this 'totally BOY' card...
the designer paper is amazing, so I wanted to use most of it to display throughout my card.
I also cut up and added the fabby sentiments from one d/p in a popped up mode. :o)

We also have a special International Inkers incentive for each posting.   When you stop at each blog and leave a comment, you will be entered into a drawing to receive the same kit that that the Inkers created with.  This month's kit is pictured here ----->
and will also include the same images in an ink of the winner's choice

Here is the list of all 'International Inkers' :
Paola (me)
Thank you all for stopping by today, I encourage you to check the rest of the 'Inkers' amazing creations!!            ~~~ Have a blessed Sunday you all!! ~~~

Best Buddies~~~~

I created this card for my youngest granddaughter Michela 3rd birthday,a few weeks ago....
There is an element of surprise in this card... wanna know what it is?? ;o)
Most of my friends know that I truly believe in recycling ..and try to do my part whenever I can...
even on my cards, such as this one...
The purplish/magenta background 'designer paper' is none other than a thin cardboard that held
some funky princesses'  'jewels' at my GDs' tea party...
at first I toss it in the recycle bin at my daughterinlaw's place and then  reTHUNK the whole idea and retrieved many of those c/boards back! LOL

I love the strong magenta color and thought it would work well
on a girly-girl card...
This sweet image I saw it for the first time last year from one of my stamping friends' card gallery on SCS, and it was love at first sight for me...lol ...Admitedly I fall in love often with many must have stamps and images...but this one is incredibly adorable.
It is aptly called 'Being Together' by Gillian Roberts @Stampavie

Here's a close up of the colored image (I used colored chalks and SU markers) and a lil picture of my sweetMichela (or Kella as we call her often, amongst many other terms of endearments..)

In here she looks rather serious but I assure you that she is  one of the funniest goofball lil missy evah! lol

Hope you enjoyed it and thanks for the visit! Please come back again soon...:o) * blessings*

One swap,three cards....

*click on any pictures to enlarge*
Here are more cards I created for another of  Barbara's many swaps (SCS:barbaralynn)
I joined in, in her 'Red and White' , ' Black and White' and ' Red and Black' cards's swap
by taking a spot in each of those categories.
We  needed to use just the above colors on our card—no other colors were allowed.

This is my take on the old classic black and white :

Card Deets: White and black c/s,'Well Scripted' SU stamp, lrg white circles eyelets, white ribbon,
'Victoria' CB folder, beaded oval nesties, MS lattice punch, one jewel. Tecnique: embossing

Next, are my red and black cards:

Card Deets:
real red, cherry cobbler and black c/s,'Upsy Daisy' SU stamp, d/p: 'Sugar Rush' by Basic Grey, label 8 nestie, black and red embossing powders, sm. butterfly punch, lrg red and black brads,  black, red, burgundy ribbons, glamour dust gliter, 'Swiss Dots' CB folder.
Tecnique: wet and dry embossing, layering, shaped card using nesties

Note: I used two different takes for these cards, wanting to show a 'positive-negative' effect tecnique

Lastly, here are my red and white cards:

I must say that these turned out to be my favorites amongst all the three entries. :o
It is also my very first try at a round card and for sure I will be making many more using same method.
I love their fresh, crispy look to them...

Card Deets: real red c/s, real red and  onix black inks, d/p:'Love Notes' by Making Memories, circle and scalloped nesties, 'Vintage Label' SU sentiment, 'Just Saying' Inkadinako sentiment, red rhinestones sqaures by Kaiser, Glamour dust glitter, lil red bow. Tecnique: easel card, round shaped card
Here you have it...a gallery of three intertwined colors :o)  Which one is YOUR favorite?? :o)
Have  a GREAT day you all ....hugs and smiles

February ~ SOTC

*Click on any picts to enlarge*
Sisterhood Of The Travelling Cards monthly swap:February was the month hosted by Barbara (aka barbaralynn on SCS)
She challenged us sistahs to make cards showing our love and passion for something we really enjoy...

The possibilities are endless so I decided to indulge myself and make cards that reflect my 'darkest' passions.....mmmm.....mmm....*C*H*O*C*O*L*A*T*E* need I say more? !! :o)       .

I wanted my card to exude a nostalgic 'old' feeling,
'cause as I was creating it I realized that this stamped image resembled the very first gift my husband bought me...a beautiful satiny and velvety heart shaped box of chocolates...I was only 15 yo then, and only met the man -who later in life became my husband-  a week before, but still kept that special first gift as a memento of our first date  :o)

The stamp I used on my card was gifted to me from a very special on line friend. She knew I had only part of the set (bought at a garage sale) and she surprised me by helping me complete it.
(big thank YOU Jeanette!)
Unfortunatly I cannot recall the name of the set
(the one you see at the bottom)....if any one of you reader knows its name will you please post it for me?? txs!

Added later:
*Thanks Barbara for providing the stamp's name*

Displaying such cards, how can I NOT quote the words made famous from the beautiful movie
 'Forrest Gump' ? :
"Life is like a box of chocolates.
You never know what your're gonna get..."

Card Deets:
c/s:chocolate chip
d/p: Costco, doiley
Lacey Circle nesties,
Orig. Circle nesties,
gold and pearl baubles,
brown emb. powder
Stickles,dimentionals.
Stamps: 'For the Love of Chocolate' by Stamping Up.
Tecnique:
watercoloring, wet embossing
sponging and distressing.

Here you have it friends...Enjoy and thanks for visiting.....
Have a blessed day!
